14. Host a back-to-school party with your homeschool friends.
Throw an all-out bash to celebrate the new year. You can rent a bounce house, have balloon artists, or just stay simple with a swimming party. Either way, your kids will love it.
15. Create a basket (or backpack) full of fun homeschool supplies and surprise your kids on the first day.
Turn something mundane into something exciting. Your kids will love waking up to their surprise supplies! This is a great time to splurge on some of the fancier school supplies.
16. Go on a homeschool scavenger hunt.
Your kids can search for books, supplies, or whatever else you have in mind. Give a prize when all of the items are found.
17. Cook meals from around the world.
To kick off your year, cook a meal from a different country each day of the first week. You can even play the part (Italian chef hat for pizza night, or using chopsticks on the night you have Chinese food). Geography and culture lessons? Yes, please! Need to teach your kids to cook? Here’s the cooking lapbook we used to introduce cooking to our children!
18. Create a homeschool bucket list for the new school year.
What would your kids like to see and do this year? Write them down and check them off as you complete them!
19. Turn your bucket list into a bucket list jar.
Write each bucket list item on a piece of paper. Each week, draw from the jar to see what adventure is next! You can separate the bucket list items into a couple of jars for the adventures that aren’t so close to home.
20. Go on a vacation.
Because you can! That’s one of the perks of homeschooling! When public school is in session, tourist hot spots are less busy and a great way to celebrate your new school year.
21. Create a selfie.
Have your kids paint or draw portraits of themselves. On the selfie, they can write down their favorites, such as food, color, activity, or books. These are fun to look back on at the end of the year!
22. Prank week.
Have some fun with family pranks. Divide up into teams and come up with daily pranks for the other team. This one keeps everyone on their toes!
23. Girls day.
Have a relaxing girls day and get pampered. Go get a manicure and pedicure, and maybe even top of the day with some ice cream! If you also have boys in the family, this is a great time for them to have a guys day!
24. Guys day.
The boys in the family can have a day to themselves also in order to celebrate the new homeschool year. From a monster jam show to a golf day with Dad, the options are endless!
25. Family game night.
After the first day, or first week of school, there is no better way to celebrate than playing games with your family. You can enjoy board games, cards, or Minute-to-Win-It challenges that will keep everyone laughing! Here’s a list of our favorite family board games!
Your kids will look forward to the fun first day of homeschool ideas you use to celebrate back-to-school each year. You can spice up your homeschool year with a little planning and whole lot of fun! These are memories you and the kids can reflect on for years to come.
