Welcome to Week 2 of our 52 Weeks to a Healthier You program! Ready to get started? 🙂
This week, we’re talking all about water. Yep. Water. A lot of us (myself included) are not drinking enough water. I mean, it’s water. It has no taste. So it’s not surprising that most adults are not consuming enough water daily.
If you’re having trouble meeting your recommended water intake goal, try these tips to drink enough water!

Tips to Drink Enough Water
1. Add some flavor!
As I mentioned earlier, one of the biggest issues with water is that it has absolutely no taste. Now if I’m exhausted from exercise, then nothing on earth tastes better than water. Otherwise, I’m not really that interested in it .
One of the suggestions I’ve seen is to add a little flavor of your own to your water. SparkPeople calls this “comfort water”. Try slicing up fruit and placing it in a pitcher of water overnight. The next day, the water will have a natural fruity flavor that you might enjoy a little better.
2. Keep a bottle nearby.
Another way to drink more water is to always have a supply with you. The CDC recommends carrying a bottle wherever you go: work, play, school, even around the house. If you’re trying to drink at least eight glasses per day, try to buy a 64-ounce water bottle with a sport top. Once you finish the bottle, you’ve met your water goal for the day!
3. Start your day with H2O.
The best advice I’ve read so far is to drink water as soon as you get out of bed. In fact, US News suggests having a glass of water first thing in the morning before you do anything else. Usually, the first beverage I ingest every morning is coffee, so I’m going to try this suggestion tomorrow morning to get off to a good start.
