Simple Solar Eclipse Craft for Kids to Make

DIY Coffee Filter Solar Eclipse Craft

This simple coffee filter solar eclipse craft is a perfect art activity for a space unit with the kids!

Total Time 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 white basket coffee filters
  • 1 glue stick
  • 1 sheet of black construction paper
  • 1 black crayon
  • 1 white crayon or white colored pencil

Instructions

  1. Glue one of the filters (leave it uncolored) to the left side of the construction paper.

  2. Use the black crayon to color the other filter black.

  3. Overlap the black filter onto the uncolored filter and glue it to the paper.

  4. Use the white crayon or white colored pencil to add "rays" and stars to the paper.

Recipe Notes

For this project, we used black construction paper to mimic the look of space. But you can make it with any color of construction paper you like.

As you see in the video, I used a white crayon and a black crayon to make this craft. So you can use crayons instead of colored pencils and it will turn out just fine!
