This apple shape tracing activity is a wonderful way to welcome students to school and introduce shape naming and building!
Apple season is a close runner up for my favorite time of year. And so apples are one of my very favorite themes for early learning.
Which is how this resource was born!
This is a perfect way to use hands-on learning with early students.
And, in just a few minutes, you can prep it for reuse at centers or with small groups!

Apple Shapes! Printable Apple Shape Tracing Activity
To use this printable apple shape tracing activity, you’ll need the following: (This post contains affiliate links. For details, see our Disclosure Policy.)
- Printer (with ink)
- Printer paper
- Mini erasers, pompoms, or other manipulatives (optional)
- Hook and loop sticky dots (optional)
- Dry erase crayons or dry erase markers (optional)
- Laminator (optional)
This product includes shape tracing worksheets for 12 distinct shapes, such as:
- Circle
- Square
- Rectangle
- Triangle
- Oval
- and more!
Each page features an apple themed tracing guide for each plane shape.
Students can start at the apple and trace around to the apple tree to complete each shape.
Then they can color in the word at the bottom to become acquainted with each shape word.
Each page is also available in a line art version if you need to save on color ink.
An awesome way to use these with students is to laminate them and then add math counters or playdough.
Students can place pompoms, mini erasers, or other counters on the page to complete each shape.
They can also use playdough to “build” each shape.

Apple Shape Activity Cards
This resource also includes apple shape activity cards with shape word labels!
Students can trace each shape around and then use the flashcards to memorize each shape name.
Then they can find the correct shape name label and match it to the right learning card.
I love to use hook and loop dots for this, because it makes the activity reusable for groups.
