Teaching literacy in early grades is just plain fun. And literacy centers make it even more enjoyable – for us and our students.

More and more early learners are working on learning Spanish. Which is a great thing.

Learning how to use more than one language is fantastic for brain development, social skills, and creative thought – particularly for early grades!

And that’s why I’m excited to share this printable Spanish alphabet literacy center for kindergarten and first grade!

This huge resource is an awesome start to teaching children the Spanish alphabet and common Spanish words!

This early literacy resource includes two sets of color Spanish alphabet word flashcards (plus line art versions).

The first set features words and pictures, while the second features pictures and a blank rectangle.

Students can cut and paste the alphabet word labels onto the cards. Or you can use hook and loop dots to make them into a reusable activity.

Count and Clip! Acorn Spanish Counting to 10 Cards

Learning to count is such an important skill for early learners.

Which is why we cover it repeatedly in early grades.

But it’s also an important skill for students who are learning another language.

And it’s doubly important for early ESL students.

So I wanted to share a fun fall-themed counting activity that works in both English and Spanish – these Acorn Spanish Counting to 10 Cards!

11 color Spanish number word squirrel and acorn count and clip cards
11 color English number word squirrel and acorn count and clip cards
A full answer key
A line art version of the Spanish number word clip cards
A line art version of the English number word clip cards
And a set of instructions!

English and Spanish Counting to Ten Clip Cards

This is an excellent cardinality activity for students to use during autumn!

Simply cut out each card and review the number words in both Spanish and English.

Let students practice counting the acorns in each picture and finding the correct Spanish (or English) number word to match the picture!

Printable Spanish Number Word Counting to 10 Cards

If you want to use these at centers, print them on cardstock or laminate them for durability.

You may even want to put them on a ring and let students practice circling the correct number words with dry erase markers.

To teach Spanish number words for counting to ten, print the answer key cards and place them in morning tubs for review!

Spanish Color Word Playdough Mats for Kids

Colors are, I think, one of the first concepts I actively tried to teach my kids. Since they’re all around us, it’s pretty easy to start introducing it at a young age.

So, when you also want to teach your young child a different language, colors are a perfect place to start with that too!

And that’s why these Spanish color word playdough mats are so perfect for early learners!

You could use these with ESL students who still learn best in Spanish. Or you could use them with early learners who are learning how to identify colors.

They also make an awesome fine motor skill activity!

These Spanish color playdough mats are a wonderful hands on resource for early learners, Spanish language learners, and ESL students!

Spanish Color Word Playdough Mats for Kids

This product includes 11 Spanish color mats, so students get a chance to learn all of the basic colors – and a few neutrals as well!

To use them, simply cut the color mats apart and laminate them.

Hand out cans of playdough and let kids practice forming the dough into letters and tracing out each color word.

After they’re done, let them practice saying each color word aloud in Spanish.

I hope you’ve been enjoying our Printable Spanish Flashcards series! Today I’m sharing a new set of flashcards: Spanish Color Flashcards!

I don’t know why it took me so long to make these.

After all, learning to identify colors is one of the most important concepts for toddlers and preschoolers. Chalk it up to mommy brain.

There are actually several ways to identify Spanish colors. For example, purple can be expressed as either morado or purpúra, while brown can be identified as either café or marrón.

In this set of flashcards, I went with morado and café, but the other words are perfectly fine also.

Printable Spanish Flashcards: Spanish Color Flashcards

To use these Spanish color word flashcards, you’ll need the following: (This post contains affiliate links. For details, see our Disclosure Policy.)

Printer (with ink)
Scissors
Laminator (if you want the cards to last)

After they’re printed, just cut them out, laminate them, and you’re good to go!

This product includes three sets of flashcards: one in Spanish, one in English, and one blank set. A pronunciation key is also provided to help you say the Spanish words correctly.

You can print several sets and use them as a matching game.

Or you might attach the blank set of cards (the ones that only have the color blocks on them) to household objects with masking tape and challenge your kids to identify the correct color in Spanish.

There are plenty of ways to use these!

Since the English color words are also included, these would be a wonderful learning tool for early learners as well!

Spanish Worksheets for Kids: Spanish Telling Time Worksheets

Laminator (for the flashcards)

This bundle of Spanish activities is great for kids from preschool to grade 3 and it includes help to learn how to say common Spanish telling time phrases.

The product features printed English and Spanish time phrases, along with tracing sentences and a bonus set of Spanish telling time flashcards! A pronunciation guide for saying the Spanish phrases correctly is also included.

As you’ll see, the Spanish way of telling time is fairly simple. In English, we use “o’ clock” to identify time based on the numbers on the clock face.

In Spanish, though, people just refer to the number of hours. So instead of 1 o’clock, in Spanish you’d say “Es la una“, which literally means “It is one.” No “o’clock” needed!

After 1 o’clock, Spanish time phrases include “Son las dos” (It is two.), “Son las tres” (It is three), and so on.

I’ve also included printables that explain the Spanish expressions for midnight and noon, so you can identify which 12:00 it is with ease!

Free Printable Flashcards: Spanish Family Flashcards

Today, I’m sharing yet another set of flashcards for you! So far, we’ve already learned Spanish days of the week, Spanish opposite words, and Spanish food words with flashcards. This week, it’s on to Spanish family flashcards!

Our set of free printable flashcards is called “La Familia” and it’s all about how to say basic family words in Spanish! In this set, I’ve used formal family words for “mother” and “father”, because mama and papa in Spanish are still “mama” and “papa”. 😉

Printable Spanish Flashcards: Spanish Verb Flashcards

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a new set of printable Spanish flashcards with you all, so I decided to get things going again with a set of Spanish verb flashcards!

Using verbs in Spanish is quite different than in English.

You have to conjugate (or change) the verb each time you use it so that it matches the person who is doing the action.

So, for example, the way you would say “I talk” is different than the way you would say “She talks”. In both of those phrases, the verb for “talk” would be different.
