  • Printer (with ink)

Family Night Scavenger Hunt

This set includes 16 cards in all.

Each card contains a short clue written in rhyme form, so they’ll be easy for the kids to remember as they search.

All you’ll need to do is to read each clue, tape or hide the next clue in location described, and let the kids have at it!

To start the game, just read off the very first card.

From there, the kids can find each clue that follows by reading the directions.

Of course, if your kids are very young, you might want to give them a hand.

If you feel the hunt is a little too long for your little ones, just shorten it by removing some of the cards in the middle and saving them for another day.

Once they find the YAY! card, they’re done! Then they can get a fun prize. Goodie bag prizes are great for this, by the way.

How to Have an Indoor Family Scavenger Hunt

You’ve got the cards all printed, but how do you actually have the scavenger hunt with the kids?

Simple Family Night Indoor Scavenger Hunt for Kids

A good time to set it up is at night when the kids are asleep.

If they see you sticking these cards around, they’ll be tempted to get a head start before you’re ready.

Playing a Family Night Scavenger Hunt Game

Trust me. It’s exactly what my kids did.

You can use masking tape to stick the cards in the right place, if you like. Or you can simply lean them up against a wall or an object in the same area.

DIY Family Night Scavenger Hunt Game

If you want the kids to try this on their own, read each clue with them and then see what area of the house they try to search in.

Easy Family Night Indoor Scavenger Hunt Game

Be sure to keep it accessible for each child’s age.

If your children are small, you might want to avoid areas with sharp objects, like the silverware drawer.

How to Have A Family Night Scavenger Hunt

My kids are a bit older, so they’re fine to open the drawer on their own.

If they were younger, though, I think I would take out a wooden or plastic utensil and just place the card near that instead.

How you set this up is really up to you.

As long as you and your kids are able to play the game together and keep it fun and safe, it’s a win!

Summer Fun! Printable Family Summer Bucket List

May 16, 2019 by Selena Robinson Leave a Comment

Summertime is my very favorite time of year. I think I have that in common with most school kids.

My kids always enjoyed summer break, too. Even though we’ve been homeschoolers for many years, we’ve always taken a break over the summer and this year will be no different.

Still, though, I never wanted my kids to just sit around being bored through June and July.

So I thought it would be good to share a printable family summer bucket list to give you some ideas for how to keep the kids (and yourself) entertained over the summer!

Printable Family Bucket List for Summer

Summer Fun! Printable Family Summer Bucket List

One of my biggest regrets about childhood is that I didn’t spend much time outside. I’m a child of the 80s, so I was indoors watching television a lot.

Looking back, I think I would have liked being outside more if I’d had a better idea of what to do while I was out there.

Printable Family Summer Bucket List

So, if you’re like me and a bit…unsure about how to help the kids get outside more, this family summer bucket list is a perfect help!

  • Going on a stargazing hike
  • Having a water balloon fight
  • Reading to others at a local nursing home
  • Going to the zoo
  • And many more!

Here’s an idea that may help.

20 Fun Family Night Ideas

Fun Family Night Ideas

How many times have you heard the kids say “I’m bored” over the past month? I couldn’t possibly keep count of how many times my kids have said it. My best estimate is 982. And I think I’m guessing too low.

We are pretty conservative with screen time, so we only allow the kids to play on tablets or individual electronic devices a couple of days a week. Instead, we try to use our evenings to spend time talking about our days. Which is great.

But sometimes you just want to have an entire evening when the family has fun. And that’s why I’ve rounded up these suggestions for family night! These fun family night ideas are perfect for spending the evening together, no matter how old (or young) the kids are! Read through them and see if you can find a new way to spend time as a family!

August 26, 2016 by Selena Robinson 7 Comments

When I was a kid, my parents loved board games. We had a lot of them. Sometimes when I was bored, I’d get one out and play against myself. (Please say I’m not the only one who did that…)

Naturally, I have a ton of board games for my kids also. But – if you haven’t noticed – board games have gotten pretty expensive! If you’re trying to find a new board game for family game night, you might have a hard time finding one that won’t break the bank.

So, I thought I’d share a list of fun family games that all cost less than 20 bucks a pop! Many of these are favorites of our kids (and some are even ones I loved as a child), so you’re sure to find a new family game night classic!

How to Set Reachable Goals …Finally!

January 1, 2016 by Selena Robinson 2 Comments

How many of you are in the process of setting goals for this year?

Okay, you can put your hand down now. 🙂

January is an extremely popular time of year for goal-setting…and February is an extremely popular time of year for giving up on those goals.

We all mean well when we set goals to improve our lives, but it’s just so hard to live up to them! And a lot of that has to do with the fact that we’re not setting goals that are actually reachable.

I’ve been trying to make serious life changes for years, but 2015 was the first year that I actually stuck to my goals and accomplished them! So I want to share a few tips to help you learn how to set reachable goals …finally!

How to Set Reachable Goals - Look! We're Learning!

How to Set Reachable Goals …Finally!

What constitutes a reachable goal? Think of the word “reachable”. What comes to mind?

For example, I’m a short gal. When I go to the store, I know which objects are within my reach and which are not. There are some things on shelves that I simply cannot get, no matter how high I try to jump. I don’t even bother with those. That’s what Employee Call buttons are for.

If it’s something I can possibly get (even if I have to stand on tiptoes), though, then I’ll put forth the effort to get it on my own.

And that’s what we have to think about when we’re setting goals. They should items that you can actually reach out and get in a reasonable amount of time.

If you’re trying to work on fitness this year, you may be tempted to put down a goal of “lose 50 pounds”. And sure, that might be a reachable goal. But is it something you can accomplish in a reasonable amount of time? Probably not.

On the other hand, “run around the block without stopping” is a goal that you can accomplish pretty quickly. So you’re far more likely to reach out and get it! Plus, it’s a stepping-stone goal on the way to losing 50 pounds. Win-win!

My Goals for January 2016

This year, I’m excited to be joining up with the Monthly Goals Linky! Each month, we’ll be sharing our goals (personal and professional) with you! Let’s make this year the best one yet – together!

I’ll be setting one goal for each area of my life: Family, Finances, Wellness, Work, and Home. Here are my goals for January 2016!

Family Goal: Listen attentively to my husband and my children.

Financial Goal: Save money by eating at home.

Wellness Goal: Finish a 5K. (I’ll talk more about this next week.)

Work Goal: Reach out and connect with my readers (that’s you!) and other bloggers.

Homemaking Goal: Clean the kitchen every night before bed. (I’m starting to genuinely hate waking up to dirty dishes.)

Setting Goals for January 2016 - Look! We're Learning!

Are you setting any goals for this year or this month? How do you plan to set reachable goals this time? Please share your thoughts in the comments!

Be sure to check out the monthly goals being shared below! And – if you’re a blogger – share your own goals for this month!
